Motherhood & Words

It’s here: launch week! I’m so excited!

It’s a busy week, and I hope you’ll be able to join me at one of the following events.

Tonight, I’ll be presenting on the Mothers Who Write panel at 7 p.m. at the St. Anthony Library in St. Paul with Julie Schumacher, Katy Read, and Kate St. Vincent Vogl.

Live today: my interview about Use Your Words with Marti and Erin Erickson of Mom Enough. Click here to listen.

Also, I have a piece about motherhood and writing that has just been posted on Chicago’s Families in the Loop site. Click here to read.

Tomorrow night I’ll be reading as part of the Mom Enough Night Out for ME at CRAVE in the Galleria. It’s a fun, free event with great food and wine and prizes (including two copies of Use Your Words), but you must register ahead of time.

Thursday night is the Use Your Words launch at 7 p.m. at the Loft Literary Center, Open Book. Please join me and Use Your Words contributors Anne Greenwood Brown, Lucinda Cummings, and Sara Martin. There will be a reading, discussion and reception. Free and open to the public. Please come and bring friends! – 1011 South Washington Avenue, Minneapolis

And finally, Friday at 7 p.m. I’ll be reading and discussing Use Your Words at Micawber’s Bookstore in St. Paul. 2238 Carter Ave

Kate

I have been teaching creative writing for almost twenty years. Reading about other women’s lives and experiences has expanded my world. To be able to walk in someone else’s shoes, whether it’s for a moment or an hour or a few days, is an incredible gift, providing me with insight into the human experience. It takes courage to write your truths, especially if it doesn’t seem as though anyone cares, as though anyone is listening. Let me tell you: your stories matter, I’m listening, and I’m here to help you find the heart of those truths, to get them down on the page, to craft them, and to send them out into the world. Together, we will change the world, one story at a time.
