Motherhood & Words

reading tonight at magers and quinn booksellers

I’m still glowing from the weekend at the 1st River Teeth Nonfiction Conference in Ashland, Ohio. The. Best. Conference. Ever. I’ll do a full post about it on Friday, because I don’t have anyone lined up for the blog tour that day. So stay tuned for some nuggets of wisdom from the brilliant writers who were there sharing their talents.

Also, please join me tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Magers and Quinn in Minneapolis. I’ll read and discuss Use Your Words. Fun, fun. I promise.

I have been teaching creative writing for almost twenty years. Reading about other women’s lives and experiences has expanded my world. To be able to walk in someone else’s shoes, whether it’s for a moment or an hour or a few days, is an incredible gift, providing me with insight into the human experience. It takes courage to write your truths, especially if it doesn’t seem as though anyone cares, as though anyone is listening. Let me tell you: your stories matter, I’m listening, and I’m here to help you find the heart of those truths, to get them down on the page, to craft them, and to send them out into the world. Together, we will change the world, one story at a time.

So wishing I were there! I love Magers and Quinn and would LOVE to hear you read. I’m stuck at home with the little ones, one of whom purposefully peed on me tonight. Glad you’re a fellow Minnesotan and this is not my last chance. 🙂

Addie, I’d love to have you at an event (if you can slip away without having someone pee on you!) I’ll be at Barnes and Noble in Har Mar for a mini workshop on Saturday June 9, 2-4 p.m. and Common Good Books on Thursday, July 12 at 7 p.m. I’m looking forward to meeting you in person at some point!

      Warmly,
      Kate
