Motherhood & Words

I’ve just come from the ultrasound, and the baby seems to be fine and is measuring as she should for 37 weeks. So, relief. Huge relief. D was squeezing my hand the whole time, and his whole body relaxed when the technician said the baby was okay. I sometimes forget that this pregnancy has been just as hard on him as it’s been on me. (Though he, of course, can pour himself a stiff drink when he wants one.)

I still have the pain wrapping around my left side, so I might not make it to March 4th, but I don’t care, so long as the little one is okay. Her little profile looks just like Stella. And today she is technically a full-term baby.

Thank you for your thoughts and good wishes.

I have been teaching creative writing for almost twenty years. Reading about other women’s lives and experiences has expanded my world. To be able to walk in someone else’s shoes, whether it’s for a moment or an hour or a few days, is an incredible gift, providing me with insight into the human experience. It takes courage to write your truths, especially if it doesn’t seem as though anyone cares, as though anyone is listening. Let me tell you: your stories matter, I’m listening, and I’m here to help you find the heart of those truths, to get them down on the page, to craft them, and to send them out into the world. Together, we will change the world, one story at a time.

Oh, I am SO GLAD for you! So glad!

And if your little baby looks like Stella, she is going to be a little gorgeous one. Madam was totally taken by Stella and kept telling me she met a “fairy girl” LOL.

Take care of yourself and please let me know if I can do anything to help. Have bus pass, will travel!

Thank you all. I feel so much better today, after a fairly good night’s sleep, knowing that this little one is as big as she should be.

Mardougrrl–so funny that Madam calls Stella a fairy girl. My fairy has been such a dickens lately.

    Hi,

I’m glad the ultrasound revealed good things, but keep your PE/HELLP radar up…just in case. Full term is a great, great thing. 🙂

Now, enjoy these few weeks of being in the wonderful world of growing a baby. Good luck! I’ll be thinking of you.

Rock on for 37 weeks! You are one terrific lady. I know how hard those last few weeks are, always waiting for the PE monster to strike. You CAN do this, I know it. You are almost to the finish line.

Many good thoughts coming your way.
    Denise

I’m not sure there are two more beautiful words than “full term”.

    Congratulations. xo
